A family friendly hotel located next to the Stadium of Light, the home of Sunderland Football Club

Hilton Garden Inn is situated 15 minutes walk from Sunderland city centre & 5 minutes drive from the sandy beaches of Seaburn & Roker.

I am sure some of the hotel setup has been adjusted to comply with Covid 19 fighting measures.

Rooms

Rooms are Covid cleaned and sealed.

Room sealed before guest gets in.

Rooms are a very good size and kept very clean.

Twin room

Bathrooms come either with a bath tub with shower or one with a shower only. They are clean & modern. Towels are soft.

Food at the hotel

Dinner can be eaten in the restaurant or ordered via in-room service. Due to Covid 19 food & drinks are being served on disposable plates, cutlery & tumblers with the exception of steaks.

Breakfast is being ordered in advance then delivered to the room each morning in take away bags.

Covid 19 Measures

Impressive Covid 19 Protocols are in place at the hotel. The is a decontamination booth by the entrance & the hotel is using a one way system when entering or exiting the hotel, lifts, as well as all public places. Temperature checks are checked during check in.

Things I like

  • Covid 19 measures are top notch.
  • The staff is very welcoming.
  • Rooms are spacious & clean.
  • Hotel is fairly new.
  • Plenty Free onsite parking.
  • 5 minutes drive from Roker & Seaburn beaches.

Things I do not like

  • Breakfast is was too dry.

Arrived at the hotel to COVID 19 measures.Decontamination chamber and temperature check so well done.Rooms were lovely and clean in fact immacculate.Nice toiletries and soft towels.Queen side bed wash lovely.

We were hugely impressed with their Covid efforts this time. Fogged in a booth each time you entered the building (we thought this was great fun!) a clear one way route in and out of the hotel, temperatures checked on arrival. Room clean and as lovely as ever. 

Room was ready and upon arrival, the room had been covid cleaned and sealed. No issues at all.
Room was its normal high standard.
