Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club is a lovely 3 star establishment with fantastic customer service all round. All the staff I interacted with were superb.
It is located in the picturesque holiday village of Thorpeness, nestled beside the Meare, a man made lake inspired by the stories of Peter Pan. It is a few minutes walk from the beach.
It is situated next to most of Leiston’s tourist attractions like the famous Windmill & the House in the Clouds which overlooks the hotel.
The 18 hole championship golf course at Thorpeness Hotel is regarded as one of the finest coastal heath-land golf courses in Britain & one of the best golf courses in Suffolk. There is also the Jiggers, a 9 hole miniature golf course for both adults & children.
Rooms
All the rooms are very clean & spacious & all come with tea & coffee making facilities. Some rooms also come with sofas, French windows, or a patio area with table and chairs.
Food
The hotel has multiple areas available to dine in, including Ogilvie’s ‘tee view’ restaurant, Braid’s bar, lounge & outside terrace. Foods served vary from complete meals to a selection of grill house & bar classics, afternoon tea & light bites.
Ogilvie’s Restaurant
Preety basic restaurant serving the purpose, considering its a 3 star hotel the food is really good & well presented. The staff is all pleasant.
The Braid’s Bar
The bar exhibits its clubhouse roots with wood panelled walls, impressive fireplace & bar furnished with golf memorabilia and is perfectly complemented with a classic bar menu.
Best time to visit Leiston, Suffolk, England
During the months of June, July & August you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 degrees Celsius (68°F) & 25 degrees Celsius (77°F).
Things I like
-Location is delightful
-The customer care is very good.
-Free parking
-Charming swans in the hotel grounds by the lake
-The hotel is especially good for golfers though anyone is very welcome.
Things I do not like
-Hotel outside looks very dated
-Main restaurant service can be very slow
